Ïàðíè îòïðàâèëèñü â Ãîëëèâóä, íî óæå ïîä äðóãîé âûâåñêîé – The Nazz (èç ïåñíè The Yarbirds "The Nazz Are Blue"). Íà ñöåíå âìåñòå ñ íèìè ðóëèëè The Doors.

Alice Cooper çà ðàáîòîé Íà äâîðå ñòîÿë 1968-é ãîä, ãîä ïåðåìåí. Êóõíþ çàíèìàåò Neil Smith. Íàçâàíèå îïÿòü ïðèøëîñü ñìåíèòü, ò. ê. Todd Rundgren íàçâàë ñâîé êîëëåêòèâ The Nazz. Âèíñåíò ïîäàë èäåþ: Alice Cooper (ïîçäíåå îí ïðèöåïèò ê ýòîìó íàçâàíèþ êðàñèâóþ áàéêó î ñïèðèòè÷åñêîì ñåàíñå, íà êîòîðîì îí óçíàë ïðî þíóþ âåäüìó ñ òàêèì èìåíåì).

Âèíñåíò ïûòàëñÿ òîëêàòü â ìàññû äàäàèçì.

Ïîä ðóêó ïîäâåðíóëñÿ Frank Zappa, êîòîðûé â òî âðåìÿ ðåøèë çàáàöàòü ôèðìó ãðàìçàïèñè Straight/Bizzare, è èñêàë íîâûå äàðîâàíèÿ, ñ êîòîðûìè íèêòî íå õîòåë ñâÿçûâàòüñÿ. Êóïåð óëîìàë ïîääàòîãî Çàïïó, êîòîðûé íåîñòîðîæíî ïðåäëîæèë ãðóïïå çàéòè óòðå÷êîì. Êîìàíäà ïðèáûëà î÷åíü ðàííèì óòðå÷êîì è ââàëèëàñü â ïîäâàë äîìà, ãäå æèë Çàïïà. Ïîñëå íåáîëüøîãî êîíöåðòà, ìóçûêàíòû óâèäåëè ãîëîãî Çàïïó, îðóùåãî: "Õîðîøî! Ìû ïîäïèøåì êîíòðàêò, òîëüêî ïðåêðàòèòå!". Ëåãåíäàðíûé áóõãàëòåð Ïðîôåññîðà Herbie Cohen ïðåäëîæèë çà òðè àëüáîìà àâàíñ $6000.

×åðåç íåêîòîðîå âðåìÿ Çàïïà ñìîã óâèäåòü ïîëíûé êîíöåðò Alice Cooper; ïîñëå ïàðû ïåñåí è áîÿ ïîäóøêàìè èç äâóõòûñÿ÷íîé òîëïû îñòàëèñü òîëüêî ìóçûêàíòû è ðåáÿòà èç ãðóïïû The Gto's. Òîãäà æå Shep Gordon ïðåäëîæèë ñâîè óñëóãè â êà÷åñòâå ìåíåäæåðà.

Íà ôåñòèâàëå â Òîðîíòî íà ñöåíó áðîñèëè öûïëåíêà, Êóïåð øâûðíóë åãî îáðàòíî. Ïòèöà áûëà ïîéìàíà è ðàçîðâàíà. Ïðåññà âçàõëåá ðàñïèñûâàëà æåñòîêîãî Êóïåðà, îòêóñûâàòåëÿ íåâèííîé ïòè÷üåé ãîëîâû… îí ïûòàëñÿ ïðîòåñòîâàòü, íî êóäà òàì… Äàæå Pete Townshead îñóäèë ýòîò ïîñòóïîê, óïîìÿíóâ åãî â Put The Toney Down. Ìåíåäæåð ïðîäîëæàë áóðíóþ äåÿòåëüíîñòü, ïîïûòàâøèñü ïîäöåïèòü â ïðîäþñåðû Jack'a Richardson'a. Íî òîò ïîñëàë âìåñòî ñåáÿ ïîìîùíèêà ïî èìåíè Bob Ezrin è ãðóïïà ñòàëà äëÿ íåãî òðàìïëèíîì ê ìèðîâîé ñëàâå. Òàêîé àíòóðàæ, åñòåñòâåííî, âðåìÿ îò âðåìåíè çàïðåùàëè, íà ïîìîùü ïðèõîäèëè êîëëåãè ïî ìóçöåõó (Jefferson Airplane), Pierre Cardin, Fred Astaire. Ïîñòåïåííî Êóïåð ïðåâðàùàëñÿ â àêòåðà. Îáðàç Ïàöèåíòà ïñèõóøêè, âûðûâàþùåãîñÿ èç ñìèðèòåëüíîé ðóáàøêè – Ôðàé-ëóíàòèê (Ôðàé â 1931-ì ñûãðàë â Dracula è â Frankenstein). Èçâåñòíîé ïåñíåé ýòîãî ïåðèîäà ñòàëà I'm Eighteen.
